![]() ![]() ![]() There is a group in the university of São Paulo called "Grupo Florestal Monte Olimpo" (Forest Group Monte Olimpo). The group aims to provide support for research, education and extension regarding environmental or forest issues. Fortunately, I have got the chance to join one of their activities. The activity was to pile up wood. It was very hard working but even though we got a lot of fun and also information exchange. There was a Eucalyptus forest with about 7 years and so in the right time to be cutted down. The harvested wood was supposed to head to some cellulose or paper industry. The sustainable ideology behind the production of commercial forest is that, instead of cutting down native trees we plant specific trees for an specific propose. Therefore, we started to pile up the pieces of trunk. In the beginning we got support of a sort of tractor. However, after a while, the tractor got broken. We got very worry at that moment cause we did know how could we pile up all those trunks. But, an idea come up in our minds. The idea was to work in group and together carry the trunks. So, in team work like the way that ants work and cooperate each other to achieve a goal, we could make the task get succesfull.
