Solar Impulse-2 : record broke and landed safely in Hawaii after 118 hrs long flight

by | 05-07-2015 03:23

Another report on Solar Impulse-2 from my side, and I hope that you will all pardon me if I am repetitive in the content, but I am so excited on the record breaking news came after a long wait?extremely sorry, if this report makes you bored?

Here is another big day for enthusiastic environmentalists like all of us and you all now know that the fully solar powered plane Solar Impulse 2 with pilot André Borschberg landed safely in Hawaii after flying 117 hours and 52 minutes, traveling a distance of roughly 4,480 miles (7,200 km) over the Pacific Ocean from Japan and broke the world record.

Solar Impulse?s bold mission of building a solar plane was created to demonstrate how pioneering spirit, innovation and clean technologies can change the world and to encourage people to save energy and promote the use of clean technologies globally

But this landing also indicates Solar Impulse's larger mission - to legitimize the possibility of zero-fuel airplanes in the future. or the time being, there is no plan to bring a solar-powered passenger airplane anytime soon, the Solar Impulse 2 presents a possible alternative to gas-guzzling airplanes. Environmentalists have long panned airplane manufacturers for their products' heavy use of fuel, and have called on agencies around the world to seek new ways to power aircraft.

"Can you imagine that a solar powered airplane without fuel that can now fly longer than a jet plane!", The pilot Piccard said in response to the record-breaking flight. "This is a clear message that clean technologies can achieve impossible goals!"

The other significance of this landing may be the opening of many alternate way of doing our present works?for an example,  pilotless solar/electric planes may be in widespread use by intelligence agencies. Just imagine, a spy plane that you can leave in the sky virtually indefinitely. I am not sure if this is already in existence!!

This is a great example of the integration of technological advancement and willpower to achieve something, which is really an exemplary to all of us and that?s the reason I am so excited?Surely we all will watch the future development eagerly in this regard.
