?Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn? said Benjamin Franklin. True as it was, the essence of this quotes has escalated with time and  becoming more valuable and pricey than petrol.

With most of youths embarked on acquainting  students with  ?environmental issues? and ?Green Living? (thanks to ever inspiring Eco-generation), I am double optimistic about the greener and healthier future ( environmentally utopian future :D ).

Just few days back, I along with my fellow friend and Eco Generation Ambassador Aksana Dallakoti went to government school ?Siddhi Binayak  Madhyamik School? to carry out eco class (thanks to Birendra brother, president of Nepalese Friendship Society-NFS for all the arrangement)

Summer days, sweltering heat. All sweating. The weather depicted the worst kind of scenarios we would had face if lavish lifestyle of our continues this way.

Despite these, we onset the class with our ?Seven up? game methods. We had participation of 50 students mostly from grade 6-8.

We distributed papers to them. Then i questioned them ?What is environment?? A girl raised her hand and defined ?Environment is all biotic and abiotic components we are surrounded by and depend on?.Brilliant answer indeed from child of grade 7. We added some points to her definition though her answer was in itself self explanatory.

Then I told them to fold the paper and draw ?Environment? in ?Before? part of  paper within 5 minutes. The drawing could encompass animals, birds, trees, houses, people and everything. I encouraged them to drawing anything that popped in the mind whenever they encounter the term ?Environment?.  There they were with pictures of rivers, mountains, hills, plains and terraces, plateaus, birds and animals, trees, flowers and houses.

Meanwhile, we wrote down  Eco quiz that I found on Ambassador Report. After, completing ?Environment? drawing, we took test. It was fun to see kids sneaking each others answers, doing discussion and being cautious about we not seeing them doing ?cheating?(in their version). After all we named it test.Probably they thought us like  ?fierce? exam guards.

After quiz, it was our time to explain green living. We firstly introduced them about Tunza Eco Generation, what is TUNZA and how we are doing as E-gen Ambassador. We gave them few time to glance at Eco generation flyers.

Considering ?direct explanation? of environmental issues to be quite a great load, we launched question-answer series. We discussed them about how every little action of our is serving climate change to happen. We encouraged them to promote kitchen  garden in their home, always switch off the electric goods when not in use, wisely use the waters, prefer public vehicles overs private and most importantly share knowledge about everything you learned with your friends and parents, partake in local environmental campaign.

We asked ?Who will save our planet?? They clamored in unison ?WE WILL.? If i was asked same question during my grade 6-7 phase i would have said ?Captain Planet. He is our Hero? But these children are smart. They know they are thyself the planeeters

Taking the opportunity, we introduced them about animal and plant biodiversity and their integral relation with our future. Of course, no one can outwit Aksana when it comes about Wildlife Conservation.

It was delightful to answer ?How unplugging a charger has global impact?? or ?How conserving water serves to protect ongoing climate change??They seemed very curious about small actions having mammoth effect on climate change( kind of  rhyme with ?Butterfly Effect?). Their zeal to learn was an spices for us to share even more.

We were surprised to see children being already familiarized with environmental topics like:  Climate change, pollutants, Ozone layer depletion, atmosphere and others. Thanks to school giving such intense focus on environmental issues. This eased us to share our ?Green Living Tips?.

We gave them again 5 minutes to draw ?Environment Conservation? on ?After part?. It was test to check our input and also how efficiently they have grasped the topics. The drawing was unbelievable. Many drew about throwing waste in dustbin, wisely using of water, switching off the fan and like was. We were elated seeing such conscious behaviour among children.

Finally, it was commitment time. Children wrote ?I will conserve Environment?. We had small group photo session. We gave E-gen CDs to Principal of the school.

It was amazing moment for us. Knowing such environmentally aware kids bring a huge smile in my face. It was pleasing to see our small endeavor really paid off. Conclusion i drew from their drawing.
