![]() Many countries have faced the water shortage these days. People suffered from the drought and died of lack of water. There are many actions taken across world in the light of this serious situation. In April, there was a 7th world forum 2015 in Daegu in Korea, which aims at raising citizen?s awareness of water. Also, my university held a competition related to water shortage projects. I have thought what people can practice something helpful for saving water in daily routine.
There was a contest "Accelerates Startup" and the project Aguawell was chosen in category of water among more than 90 participants. The Aguawell is the household goods, which collects over 80% of the water from the shower and makes it possible to reuse. Therefore people recycle water from the shower for washing floors or toilet.
The idea comes from the observation for water collection in bathroom and was developed by the company called Lakefarm. A user does not need to install this equipment but just set it on the floor under the shower. This simple box is made of a plastic container ((HDPE, High-Density Polyethylene) and weights 1.5kg with approximately 55cm x 56cm size.
However, this product is not ready to be made or sold in large numbers so that the people in need cannot purchase them. Therefore the team of designers started to campaign to rise funding. They plan to produce the equipment with an NGO for people who have a low-income in communities in Brazil.
Furthermore, they hope that this project could be completed in other countries. In fact, it is no doubt to say that a lot of people in the world have suffered from the lack of water. Thus, they expect this innovative product will meet not only Brazil market but also other countries one.
Today I also read many articles and report on TV regarding water scarcity. The treasure, water that we take for grant has been vanished off the face of the earth. I?m afraid that our concern about destruction of the environment become reality and it will lead to serious disaster to the earth, our habitat. I really hope that many people are aware of condition surrounded us. |
