My little celebration-Environment Day 2015

by | 19-06-2015 14:43

Every year on 5th June "World Environment Day" is celebrated worldwide. But for the conscious inhabitant of this planet, every day is an Environment Day. In this ambassador report I would like to share my small event on Environment Day.

Background
Just two days before the Environment Day I went to my village. I hadn?t planned anything but had a thought in mind that I shall do something this time. So first thing I thought of was plantation engaging primary school students but this couldn?t be successful due to the continuous dry period there.
Talking about the school, there is a primary level school named Shree Bidhya Jyoti School in my village.
And as most of the people send their children's to private school there are minimum number of student in this school which is below the requirement of Ministry of Education. The saddest thing is that, this school shall no more remain next year. As my first plan failed I thought of a small interaction program on importance of environment with the students there. So I asked the Principal Sir for his permission and he happily allowed me.

Activity
So on 5th June 2015, 12:00 P.M. NST I went to the school. The number of students
is very low they were all gathered together. As I was unable to prepare any materials I took the help of Eco-generation school kit. At first I introduced them about Tunza Eco-generation and explained them about air, water, land and lastly about Living Green. In between I asked them if they have understood or not. And I tried my best to explain them in the simplest language as all of them were below 10 years old.

After that I handed them paper and asked them to draw the environment they want to live in. After they finished the drawing I asked them to explain about the drawing and there was a girl who had made two holes dug near the house she drew and told that one is for degradable waste and other for non-degradable waste which was a reasonable reason to make me happy. Those drawings will be evaluated by the teachers there and they shall be awarded on their annual day.

Conclusion
I was able to do little from my side to celebrate the environment we have and the one we shall maintain. I hope that those little ones learned something from me and it'll have some impacts on their life which shall be reflected on their environment and shall lead to building of a beautiful world.
