|BRAZIL| Sustainable Fishery Project

by Luiz Bispo | 06-06-2015 13:01

The sustainable fishery project is planned to be running for about three years. It was launched in April 2014 and its goal is to enable fishermen to develop a sustainable management of Piracuru fish and other species.

The project aims to fortify the fishing production chain of Acre state. In addition, the project intends to support environmental certification action and payments for ecological services.

It is through delivering strategies of technique and scientific research that the sustainable fishery will promote the political improvement in relation to the issue and shall implement measurement ways which allow better value to aquatic ecosystems and fishery sources.

Under responsibility of WWF – Brazil and the National Bank of Economical and Social development with support from the Amazon Fund will work out together with some partners such as the MSC (Marine Stewardship Council), Brazilian Institute of Environment and Natural Renewable Resources.

Nevertheless, Acre state and the local fishery colonies can acquire information and know how to make a sustainable fishery activity.

Unfortunately, humans exploit a lot of animal species through severe way. These species are very negatively affected without animal ethics or sustainability. We, together with government and institutes need to create projects of sustainable exploitation. In light of this, I believe that a large number of animal individuals and species may be saved from the negative impacts within their habitat.
