Hello ambassadors and all the TUNZA members, this is ChaeYun CHO from South Korea.
A few weeks ago, I searched about 'Fair Travel' since it was our school's assignment. While searching about India where my partners all wanted to visit, I found an interesting article. It was about 'Holstee' wallet. 'Holstee' wallets are made out of recycled paper and plastics, picked up by Rag pickers in India. They provide fair wage and help them to gain more chance to accomplish their dreams. Especially, Black Edition is made out of special element included in elephant poop. This product is very beneficial since it helps both the environment and human rights. These products are also called as Upcycled products.
Upcycling is a new movement that converts litter into new materials and products of better quality and better environmental value. To briefly introduce the basic concept, the term was first used by Reiner Pilz in 1994. While recycling is Upcycling is as you can mention, very eco-friendly and is sustainable way to recycle. So this new movement is a proper way to protect the environment efficiently.
So what can be upcycled? Actually, the answer is anything. The below pictures are upcycling products that some people have made. Rain boots are upcycled in this case. They used them as a plant pots. A grater is upcycled as a receptacle for pencils. A tennis ball can be upcycled in various ways, fulfilling one's needs. The pictures above shows how forks can be upcycled. Especially, the upcycled forks really interested me since I thought those were very creative. As you can see above, upcycling is not a hard way of protecting the environment. If you use the waste wisely and creatively, it can be a fabulous new product with great design. Like the upcycled fork, something vast it not needed. Small things can change the world. Why don't you start joining this movement, Upcyling? *References of the pictures used in this article
