![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() My dear aspiring mates, I have already shared my journey of receiving lovely 220 T- shirts from Tunza Eco- generation and utile amount of $2220 from dear Aaditya Singh brother and ADTTA from UAE for supporting earthquake victims of Nepal. I hope you would love to read and travel along with my journey of how everything was managed and how the support reached the needy people. Preparatory phase Finally I had received the amount and T- shirts despite struggling through some challenges. Then the first task was to find the most needy place where the people were starving but plead was yet to be heard. As I mentioned earlier Dr. Hom Basnet Sir was there guiding in every steps of planning. Through some preliminary research we set the target of Paharebesi village, Laharepauwa VDC of Rasuwa district. This remote village had 150 households and residents were mainly people belonging to disadvantaged group. Through Hom sir, we could contact local leader of the village and accordingly we felt the need of groceries and shelter material for them. The date of campaign was set for 29th May. We worked together for all three days to make necessary arrangements for delivering the groceries and shelter materials from cost effective shops, searched for a vehicle that would give us discount, informed the details to eager volunteers (brothers and sisters) about the campaign, keep the records of expenses and analyzed the ways to make best use of the money. Ms. Meena Gurung and Mr. Raju from a social organization UPF also extended their helping hands during entire process. Mrs. Veenu Kanwar (mother of Aadi brother) was in regular contact with me, guided, suggested and encouraged me. I was much happier when dear Rahul brother and Aksana sister (14th Ambassadors from Nepal) were ready and excited to join but unfortunately Aksana sister had health problems and couldn't be a part. Also, I feel so proud and thankful to share that one of my beloved brothers Upakar Bhanadari shared his interest of donating some materials to the children and as per my suggestion he bought some stationary materials for donation worth $10 from the money he won from 'Keedafie Contest'. Day of Action The most waited day 29th May was at doorstep and altogether me along with 28 others reached the destination after traveling for about six hours. We enjoyed even the jolting ride in a mini- truck. When we get off local people had already gathered there and they welcomed us warmly. Hom sir briefly described about the campaign and introduced Aadi brother and ADTTA to the locals. We had three campaigns altogether at the same destination. Through Hom Sir a team of medical professionals also joined us. There were three doctors and seven assistants who conducted the medical camp and prescribed, distributed the medicine to people. Whereas I along with my beloved brothers including Rahul brother carried out the Child Friendly campaign representing Tunza Eco- generation. First of all I gave a short introduction about Tunza Eco- generation and then we distributed the pretty t- shirts and asked them to put it on. Every kid was given drawing sheets, color pens and asked to draw whatever they want. Even a little kids ranging from three years participated. Our spirit held high to see those innocent cheerful faces of children enjoying the drawing. And then we distributed them the stationery we had taken including drawing copy, pencils, erasers, sharpeners etc. Also, we had taken biscuits and chocolates for children with our own money. Hom sir distributed boiled eggs on his behalf and our generous driver brother distributed the bread he had bought. We really enjoyed being together with kids and seeing their drawing, gossiping with them, taking photographs etc. Some children had even written poem and essay about earthquake. After having chocolates and all we even asked the children to collect the wrappers in a paper box we had and suggested to dispose the waste only at proper place. I wished I had a whole day to be with them. Finally it was time to distribute relief materials. The local leader already had name list of households and he called the names accordingly. We had 15 kg rice packs for each household, edible oil, pulse, grams, salt, mattress and mosquito net for each household. Turn by turn we distributed those materials and then we also had glucose energy drink for aged people and milk powder for post postpartum mothers. The locals were very happy and responsive to our campaign. They said it is the first time they got so many items at once as support and in such an organized way. Those sacred blessings from a kid to elderly people elated us. Last but not the least What I (we) did was my responsibility as a responsible youth of the country. But what Aadi brother and ADTTA have done is truly altruistic. I would like to express my sincere thanks to Dr. Hom sir and Mrs. Veenu Kanwar who were there for supporting and guiding me all the way from the very beginning. Thank you all brothers including my dear Rahul brother, sisters and medical team who were an integral part of the campaign. The success has been achieved due to your active engagement. Thank you Tunza Eco- Generation, you have been a blessing in my life, supporting and inspiring ever. I salute you all. Thank you! It is said "Honesty pays off" and it is a bliss my honesty paid off for my people at this time of need. I tried my best to utilize the amount in the best way I can as Aadi brother and ADTTA trusted me so high even without knowing me personally. Though no matter how much we contribute at this time seems small as the loss is such massive but what we did was whole heartedly and could bring smile in their wrecked faces. Tunza Eco- generation, you have been an invaluable gift in my life and I would never let you down. I feel proud to be attached with this global family and have such inspiring mates from around the world. Thank you for adding vibrant colors of joy and motivation in my life. (PS- A child of around eight years, at the end of child camp gave me his drawing sheet whispering it's only for me. When I saw it tears filled my eyes as he had drawn the symbol of love and written a poem for me. I have included that photo too) |
