![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() While Dubai and UAE are persistent with their eco-friendly initiatives I read another interesting article in Gulf News today that I intend to share at this forum. The team of Gulf News were allowed exclusive access to the Al Sufouh depot of Dubai Tram where they wathed in awe at the various high tech facilities being used to maintain the trams. The most interesting green initiave of the maintainence of Dubai Trams is that 70% of water used to wash the trams is recycled. The trams are washed regularly & lot of water is used for the same. But using latest technology & in-house water treatment technology that treats the water this immense saving is achieved. Washing a tram [twice a week in normal conditions & immediately on arraival in case of dusty weather conditions] take about 15 cubic meters of water. Out of the same around 11 cubic meters is recycled. This is a lot & it speaks volumes about the commitment of Dubai towards sustainability. Small & definitive steps like this goes a long way to support this cause & encourage the public about adopting green methods in day-to-day living. We also must adopt green lifestyles & save the precious resources as much as we can. It does not matter how small is the contribution. It is the commitment that matters.
