Inter-School Environment Public Speaking 2015

by | 29-04-2015 21:27

Last week, I took part as a speaker in the Inter-School Environment Public Speaking Contest 2015 hosted by Emirates Envirnmental Group.
Commitment towards positive environmental change is not an easy task.  However, it is possible to instill that awareness into the students, the future. The year of 2015 is opening a new page towards sustainable development in the country.
The UAE is committing to facilitating a global transformation to Green Economy. Thus, once again, like every year, EEG threw an open challenge to the student community across the country inviting them to build and present strong cases on different contemporary issues and questions relating to the environment. A panel of environmental and bi-lingual experts were invited to evaluate the performance of the students on a pre-defined criteria. It was an excellent opportunity for students to showcase environmental knowledge and talent they possess, and use the platform as a good tool to share and exchange ideas amongst students from government and private schools.
The event had encompassed a multitude of topics such as:-
1. Environment and Development: Conflict or Harmony?
2. Sustainability Our Responsibility: it?s no longer an option!
3.  From Global to Local: Environmental Regulation & Economic Integration!
4. Overpopulation vs. Overconsumption: where should we
  focus?
Such excellently chosen and well-thought-out topics really urged us students to put on our thinking caps and bring out our orating talent.
The students in the audience also engaged in asking quetions to the speaker and thus, at the end, everyone had a clear understanding of the topics discussed and the topics could be easily grasped by the enthusiastic audience.
I am certain countless students went home that day, with enhanced public speaking skills and with a widened horizon of knowledge on the crucial environmental issues our world is facing and possible solutions.
Hence, all these aspects made the event a fruitful one!
