Ghana is noted for bush burning to trap and catch rat and grass cutter. This is doing more harm than good to plants and animals hence destroying the land too. Some also do this to clear their piece of land for farming purposes instead of going in for tractors to take care of it. After the world earth day celebration at Keta, I decided to go to the bank for money. On my return from the bank in another town (Aflao) close to Adina and Denu I notice a fire outbreak in the area. I was astonished to see the outbreak, about 600 metres from the initial starting place as the fire was heading towards a gas filling station which could have claimed a lot of lives. If not for the intervention of the fire service, I don?t know what might have happened. The extension of the fire was intense that it destroyed a lot of things in the area. The smoke from the fire caused all vehicles to stop as it made vision blur. I think we need education on fire, if not it might be worse the next time. I celebrated the Earth Day with others hoping to see a change not knowing some are still making things worse.
