![]() ![]() Waste becomes problem in some developed countries. Waste pollutes water, soil, and so on. In the water, waste can make water could not be consumed or become flood trigger. Many living organisms in the water such as fishes, turtle, and other organisms may be disrupted and get harmful disease. But, actually, waste also can be source of energy. In Sapporo, there is power plant that comes from waste. When the waste is incinerated, heat will increase, and produce high-pressure steam that can turn turbine. From the turbine, it can produce electricity that can be transmitted to other areas. The heat also can be used to heat up hot water. In Japan, people are commonly using hot water for their daily shower and bath.
There are some waste power generations in Sapporo, such as Shiroishi power plant. In this power plant, 87,600,000 kWh / year electricity can be produce. This energy can be used to turn on 1,000 refrigerator 1,678 years nonstop. What a large energy that can be produced from waste. Waste is can be easily found everywhere as long as there is a human life. Both in rural or in the urban areas, people used to produce waste. So, this system can be able to be applied in every place in the World. As a young, we can initiate from reducing waste as much as possible. And, we can try to influence local government to apply this system, to use waste as energy resources. At once, two environmental problems, energy and waste problem, can be solved. |
