by | 27-04-2015 16:34

I visited Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) 2015, on 21st and 22nd April. It took place under the theme ?At the Forefront of Sustainability? at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from 21 to 23 April, 2015. It was a great experience to get insights and inspirations from the many experts and organisations present there for sustainable future for the UAE and the world. WETEX is an ideal platform to discuss how to build a sustainable future by conserving water, saving natural resources, and reducing emissions.

This year marked the 17th edition of WETEX held under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance of the UAE and President of DEWA. I had visited Korean pavilion, Chinese pavilion, Italian Pavilion, FabLab UAE workshop and so on. A Twizy electric car developed by Renault was also on display and DEWA?s vision to become a world-class sustainable utility at WETEX was grabbing visitors attraction.

WETEX main focus was on the adverse impact of global warming and climate change:

1. The global challenges in the environment sector.

2. Preserving and protecting natural resources

3. Controlling pollution

4. Support economic growth

WETEX is exhibiting the most innovative technology in sustainable development for the past 17years making it the largest of its kind in the region. A large number of companies and countries had participated in the 17th edition. WETEX has become the largest event of its kind in the region, attracting every year thousands of exhibitors and visitors and serving as a meeting point for experts and specialists in diverse sectors, especially energy, water and environment conservation, as well as green buildings and oil and gas.

Technical seminars were conducted and series of activities promoting rational consumption, the green economy, and sustainable development feature the latest products, technologies, and solutions related to energy and water efficiency, as well as residential and commercial green-building solutions.

WETEX has gained importance as an international pageant which displays modern technology under one umbrella. I felt it was a wonderful opportunity to showcase latest technologies and equipment and raising their corporate profiles. It was a best platform to build awareness about products and services while sharing ideas and best practices with the world?s leading companies in the Water, Energy, and Environment Technology industries.
