YOUTH FOR THE ENVIRONMENT DAY 2015

On 20 March 2015, Singapore held its 5th YED (Youth for the Environment Day)! With special guests from Parliament (Mr Zaqy Mohamad from Choa Chu Kang GRC Constituency) and universities (Professor Leo Tan, defender of the environment), the stage is set for a mindblowing future for Singapore's environment movement!

What did we achieve at the YED 2015? For starters, noting much we got the four major public universities in Singapore to agree to a Memorandum of Understanding that they would 'green' their campuses and work with each other towards a more sustainable and futuristically people-centred and student-centred Singapore! The first surefire way to start would be to encourage the usage of reusable containers to have takeaways! Most students are busy and usually use styrofoam boxes when ordering takeaways now this is bad for the environment! It contributes to greenhouse gases and kills the Earth's beauty when they are dumped! But people still use them....

But we are on the way to removing them from circulation....slowly but surely. To promote the use of reusable containers for food, we dcided to show what uses a container can have! You can cook an egg in it with a microwave, you can decorate it, and you can put your pins and needles in it when not using it for food! So fun, right? In fact, our event was also a carnival that added fun to the atmosphere with game stations that showed the many uses a container can have! At the end, there was a great buffet dinner for all.

With food, fun, and games for all to learn,  was YED 2015 a success? It was SO TOTALLY ONE!
