![]() Wish you a happy International Day of Sport for Development and Peace! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wp5_v7x-Hqs I am working as Youth Ambassador World Peace Caravan In every society, sport is a field of ideas and a force for tremendous positive change. Sport, is a tool for training, progress and peace and it supports unity, patience, understanding, and health, both mental and physical, at all levels of society. The power of sport is to enhance life skills of children and youth for a better world and to advance gender equality.
The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP) is an annual celebration that highlights and promotes the power of sport as a catalyst for social change in all aspects of the world. It is observed on the 6th of April to promote healthy lifestyles and contributes to an atmosphere of tolerance and understanding. It is a day when some of the world?s leading sportspeople work together with communities to bring sporting opportunities to enrich lives, particularly those of young people.
The IDSDP offers a new opportunity to promote sport and physical activity as a cost-effective and meaningful apparatus that can address a wide range of needs related to education, health, social inclusion, youth development, gender equality, peace building and sustainable development. It also provides a notable platform for governments to invest more in sport, related infrastructure and quality physical education for young people.
So each one of us can use the sport that interests us in attracting, mobilizing and inspiring the society. By its very nature, sport is about participation. It stands for human values such as respect for the opponent, acceptance of binding rules, teamwork and fairness, all of which are principles which are also contained in the Charter of the United Nations.
