Earth Hour Celebration in Bali

by | 31-03-2015 23:27

Bali joined the rest of the world campaigning for climate change awareness on March 28, 2015 by switching off its lights for Earth Hour. People in Denpasar, capital city of Bali saw Catur Muka Statue switched off for an hour started from 20.30 – 21.30. It is the famous landmark of Denpasar placing on the heart of the city. Children, youth and adult gathered together spread messages about the importance of caring this planet.

This is my second time for being a committee of Earth Hour celebration. Since I?m the online coordinator of Earth Hour Denpasar, I focus on online campaign. Indonesian people are known as the world most active participant on social media. This is a privilege for campaigning Earth Hour on it. I took many pictures during the celebration, typing good captions and posted them in Earth Hour Denpasar?s social media account.

Street campaign was involved in this year celebration. Youth and children wore human banner and spread stickers and pins to engage people switching off during Earth Hour. The Earth Hour events are examples of where mass, coordinated, behavior were undertaken to cause observable reductions in electricity demand at the grid level. The actions occurred in a wide range of regions, cultures, and economies.

?USE #YOURPOWER TO CHANGE CLIMATE CHANGE? unifying themes of the campaign have been that all individuals have the ability to alter their environment and the collective power of positive action by many people can have a beneficial impact on the Earth.
