[February Thematic Report] Green technologies.

by Heidy Michell Albor Vargas | 18-02-2023 12:55

Green technologies.

Green technology is a term used to talk about the possibility of sustainable technological development.
They focus on reducing the impact by improving methods, such as production and material satisfaction.
Green tech is a suitable alternative because of society's basis in innovation. Our actuality not only depends on ingenious modernization but also requires a change in designs and the creation of new green algorithms.

This movement initiative started when companies developed electric cars and governments started to invest in renewable energies.
The principal contaminants should be the focus of green technologies. For instance, the agricultural sector is responsible for 24 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions.
And the impact of transportation is not behind, being responsible for 24 % of direct carbon dioxide emissions.
Technologies such as precision agriculture are an example of green agriculture. To reduce the environmental impact of agriculture, it uses data to optimize crop yields and organic farming practices and avoid synthetic pesticides and fertilizers.
Transportation is mainly related to electric cars; electric vehicles are an alternative to gasoline-powered cars and trucks.
But green transportation has a long road ahead ( if we take into account that the chief contaminant in this sector is the planes)

My favourite green technology is the anaerobic digester because it reduces waste by composting it and converting it into gas.
But as a coder, we are part of small actions that can become green technologies. Some coders create crypto programs with low impact and tools to save energy.
The potential for coding to help the environment is massive; through simulations, apps, tracking systems, data centres or monitoring gas emissions.
I would love to be part of the coding applied to green technologies.
It calls to my attention how we can create smart agriculture systems that help crops and by simulation avoid mass loses and pollution.
Coding has long been referred to as the language of tomorrow. And I believe it can make a difference in green technologies.
Programming can help the environment in many ways. Some developers make positive contributions by creating new, more environmentally friendly technologies. Others take small steps that will add up with time. We can all do our part to ensure the health of our planet for future generations.

Green technologies have a space for all of us, we can all develop in this area and help a have a contribution to tomorrow.
