UAE has come up with another exciting waste bin- THE INTERACTIVE WASTE BINS. These bins are specially designed to give people messages about how much energy they saved on recycling waste materials.

Upon disposing of a certain kind of material in the bin, whether paper, plastic, aluminum cans, or metal, the waste bin provides you a message of what your effort has achieved.

You will get this message when you discard a plastic bottle into an interactive waste bin that you may soon come across in the UAE – by recycling a plastic bottle you will save enough energy to run your fridge for over 2 hours without having any negative impact on our environment

If you discard an aluminium can, you will get this message – you have saved enough energy to browse on your laptop for 45 minutes

The innovative waste bin was developed by Masdar Institute of Science and Technology in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The bin will encourage people to recycle more as they will become aware of the amount of energy they are saving. It will boost the interest of people in recycling items.

The bin boasts to have multiple features of tracking the amount of waste collected, amount of free space left in the bin and other information. This information can be used by recycling companies to collect the waste in the bins upon receiving notification from the bin?s system. The messaging system can be customized, and companies can track the volume of waste received. There is an alert system integrated within the bin that announces when the receptacle has reached capacity
