Green Industrial Engineering Leadership Caravan 2015 (GIELC2015) was organized by the Industrial Engineering Eco Vanguards of Cebu Institute of Technology – University spearheaded by the IELE 9 (Enlisted Strata) with the partnership of Project NOWTBUKS Volunteers. This was held at Barangay Lanas, Naga Cebu City, March 8, 2015 from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

GIELC 2015 is a one day event where high school students (at most 50 students) of Lanas National High School were immersed into a series of modules entitled Self-Awareness, Servant Leadership, and Action Planning.

The main objective of this event is to deepen the knowledge of the students about their vital role in protecting the environment and transform young minds to become eco-vanguards.

This event was started with a bang (energizer).

In the first module entitled Self Awareness, high students were given a chance to know who really they were. There were two sessions in every module – INPUT SESSION and OUTPUT SESSION. In the first session is the giving of inputs of the resource speaker and the second session is giving a chance to express their ideas. Well, with the help of Eco Vanguards ates (older sister) and kuyas (older brother) I believe that they had a self-reflection and they had a lot of learnings learned. #ItsWithMe

 In the second module entitled Servant Leadership, same process was used with different insights which focus on the Leadership Skills.

The main highlight of the event GIELC 2015 was the ACTION PLANNING. There were still two sessions in this module. First, there was a resource speaker who share insights and ideas about what is ACTION PLANNING. Second is the output session which let the student think about what are the things that needs to be develop and improve in their school regarding Environmental Awareness. They were given a time (2 hour) to conceptualize a Project which focuses on the Environment. Since there were 50 students, they were divided in 7 groups comprises of 7 students per group. Each of the group has a facilitator.

I am one of the facilitator of the Action Planning which I say that I am so honoured to share my ideas and to guide the high school students. I was just amazed because all of the group had conceptualize a PROJECT which has a strong positive impact to the Environment. There were 3 chosen groups that received awards. The projects that were chosen were the Project #Basura, Project Environmental Awareness, and Project Making things Greener. Project #Basura aims to segregate (Biodegradable and Non biodegradable) their waste in their school, Project Environmental Awareness aims to aware the students to know the importance of  the 3R Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, The Project Making Things Greener is a gardening Project of Lanas National High school.

Hopefully, these three projects will be implemented which is very vital and has a great impact to their school.
