 water pollution is increasing day by day. less then 1% of world's population is getting fresh water. water is polluted by the heavy metals and organic waste. these cause eutrophication and other related problems because of these organic and inorganic waste. A sustainable method to eliminate these problems is the use of algae cultures. these algae cultures will make the water clean. these will oxidize the organic waste. Inorganic waste also be accumulated inside these algae. it will clean the water from both organic and inorganic waste. It is also a sustainable method because these algae will not harm the environment. Another method is the use of algae mats. Ceramium, ectocarpus and entromorpha species of algae are grown on the net and water is passed through them these will absorb the water heavy metals.these mats should be replaced regularly. we can apply this on large scale in the sewage system, in agricultural crops which will be effective in reducing health hazardous. |
