![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Just last Friday (27th February, 2015) the result for 14th regional ambassador was announced by Tunza Eco- generation. I am blessed to be chosen as one of the 28 newly announced ambassador from Nepal. Yesterday, late evening I received phone call from the coordinator of Nepal Friendship Society, which is an NGO working on different aspects of social development in Chitwan, Nepal. The Coordinator, Mr. Birendra Poudel invited me as a guest speaker of today's orientation program. The theme of the program was "Community Work for Social Change" and I was requested to share my experiences regarding the social activities I was involved then and now. So, today early morning at 8.30 am (GMT +6.45) I arrived at the venue, Saptagandaki Multiple Campus located at Bharatpur city, Chitwan Nepal. The program was targeted for undergraduate students of diverse faculties like journalism, environmental studies, education etc. There were two speakers, including myself and Mr. Klas Orren who is a retired professor from Sweden and is now is Nepal for gaining experience about the community work in villages of Nepal. I felt so glad to be seated as a guest in a hall full with so many students of my age group curious to hear from us. He focused on bottom up approach for community work and the reasons for failure of Top- down approach in community work. Then, it was my turn, I started by saying I am a learner not an expert. i continued sharing my experience regarding my first visit to USA to attend 2nd Climates International Conference based on climate change and then my recent visit to South Korea to attend Global Youth Eco- Leadership Summit, 2015 (Thank you Tunza Eco- generation :) )I shared my journey of working in my passion i.e. environmental issues, how I proceeded from ideation to implementation being involved in different organizations. What else could have been better than this to promote our Tunza Eco- generation platform? So, I introduced them Tunza Eco- generation as CSR of Samsung Engineering, ways to get involved in different monthly events, how to share articles etc. I suggested them to get involved in this global family and the simple steps of creating username and then log in. I gave them my Facebook id (It's the most widely used social media in Nepal) so that I can help them personally and suggest for involvement in different youth movements. After the formal closure of the program, students gathered around me and appreciated my presentation, congratulated me, asked the secrets for my achievements, how they can get involved in such activities etc. I have suggested them to get involved in Eco- generation which is the noble platform for youth like us to exchange our ideas and participate in different innovative events. The students looked inspired and were willing to get involved. In this way, I got chance to promote Tunza Eco- generation among enthusiastic students. Hopefully they will log in soon. |
