?Parks are a great place to spend our leisure time and interact with the nature. Celebrating occasions in parks is a great idea as it improves our social skill. But this does not mean that we have every right to use it according to our convenience. We must take responsibility of our actions and make amends for what we do. ? 

This is an extract from the speech which I gave at my friend?s birthday party held in Al Mushrif park.

Al Mushrif Park is a 5.25 square kilometer desert-like park in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, part of which is enclosed to house a range of flora and fauna and restricted to access by unauthorized personnel including park visitors.

My friend had hosted a birthday party in the park which was attended by many families. A lot of events were organized for kids and winners were given gifts. As a part of the celebrations everyone sprayed each other with snow sprays and string sprays and burst balloons leaving the whole place in turmoil. On seeing the mess I empathized with the workers who would have a tough time cleaning up the place.

So I immediately called everyone?s attention and made them understand the mess they had caused. I also took this opportunity to introduce them to Tunza Eco – Generation. I organized an environmental quiz contest and gave Tunza promotional goods to all who answered correctly. Moved by my message, everyone had a small clean up and together cleaned most of the mess they made, easing the job of the workers.

After the party, when we were leaving, I noticed a distinguishing feature in the park a mini solar plant. On inquiring, I found that the park was powered by solar energy. I also found out that all the trees in the park were legally registered and protected against felling. I must commend the municipality?s action towards a more sustainable future and I really do hope that they apply this in all parks in UAE and throughout the world.
