climate change impact in agriculture and livelihood of marginalied community of Nepalese hills

climate change brings about carious changes in agriculture and natural resources impacting on major livelihood options of the marginal people. a survey research was proposed to assess the impact change on farming system and farmer's livelihood in Nepalese hills. this was accomplished by evaluating the performance of farming system and trend of the yield of major crops in farmer's field in last 15 years and by documenting the farmers perception about the impact of climate change. survey of "Oxam internation youth partnership" in some VDCs of the sindhupalchok district was done to find out the impact assesment. locations were selected purposively as early impacts of climate change have been exprienced in  those regions and resource poor farmers reside in the areas. one hundred farm house holds were surveyed during the study. respondents reported climate change and farming system in their locality. respondents experienced erratic rainfall pattern, decreased length  of winter, increased frequency and length of droughts associated with decrease in water sources in recent years. the analysis of climatic data showed similar results. landraces of many crops have disappeared and new varieites, construction of stone walls and local irrigation canals, cultivation of cash crops were the major adaptation measuress observed.
