![]() ![]() ![]() Though it's my last month as the 13th Regional Ambassador, I though to make it a more energetic one. I spend 5 days in all, travelling to different places for these news, ranging from river pollution to polythene maniac to cleanliness. All three of them depicts the actual face of my city which is not just limited to these problems only. In India, we have a festival called 'chathh' celebrated mostly in Bihar state. The womens praise the sun and have a bath in River Ganga, the holy river. But River Ganga is facing major crisis of pollution. The people and throwing waste in the river and the factories too, are dumping their waste. Although, the government have started many initiatives, them seems to be ineffective. If it's the time of festival, the people, the ministers, all of them get together in cleaning it up to the area of use. But in general day, they put their waste in the name of day. I have posted some pictures that shows what people do in a normal day. They bring with them all of their spiritual stuff and throws them in the river. If this is believing in god, then I'm proud that I'm an atheist. People have killed every initiatives of government and government thinks, just starting the event is there duty and the proper running of it. The government has banned much of the type of polythene in the city. But they are still being used in large amount. The below 40 micron polythene are still being produced and used at a large rate which is supposed to extinct as it has been banned about a year ago. The responsible officials are just sitting in their Air Condition room on a chair and ain't doing anything and these polythene are causing sewage problem, waste. Actually the people them self don't know how to differentiate polythene and they certainly can't recognise a polythene of size less than 40 micron. The state government has it's body responsible for it. But they don't take any action. No survey, no operation. Let the things be as it. This have become their motto. Though Indian GDP is now ahead of China, it's corruption level is all at the top. I'm talking about the cleaning of a local hospital by the municipal corporation. At the order of High Court, the hospital agencies put the work to a private contractor. The hospital is spending more than one lakh indian rupees on the private contractors but still the hospital is completely messed up. The same contractor is working for 10 years with this hospital and the problem has never been solved. Looks like the workers don't exist. It's the great Indian culture, wherever there's a corner, there will be waste. |
