Project NOWTBUKS Session with Bancasan Elem. School students

by | 08-02-2015 14:09

The volunteers and I braced ourselves to go back to the first place we had a run when our term started – San Remigio, Cebu. We traveled for almost 5 hours on the way to the venue. It was draining but when we saw the beauty of nature, we regained our energy back. Nature is like our charger!

And so after 5 hours, we finally arrived at Bancasan Elem. School. The school is really nice! Its environment is refreshing and we all agreed that the place gave us nostalgia of our elementary years. I thought it was the best asset of the school until we met the students. They were all so hyped and enthusiastic that I really got so excited to teach them about environmental sustainability! The program started by orienting kids about environmental sustainability with your truly as the speaker. I also talked about Tunza Eco-generation as one of the most effective and sustainable interventions that address environmental issues. The kids were so eager to listen and they all had the burning desire to learn.  That was the sweetest!

This run is different from the previous runs because we didn?t make the PN eco-notebooks, we made eco-cards instead to celebrate the Valentine?s Day. The kids were so serious in designing the cards and it was evident in their artwork – they are such a beauty! I was more than satisfied with what kids? output.

Right after PN session, we distributed bags and school materials from Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation and Cebu International School. We all noticed the joy in the students? eyes and their gratefulness for the gifts they received. Amazing scene, indeed! Yet, the most awesome thing I witnessed that day is the satisfaction that all the volunteers felt after teaching the kids. It made our journey purposeful, all thanks to the generous sponsors and the YBH family!
