![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This year the World Future Energy Summit, the largest gathering on Future Energy, was held in the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from 19 - 22 January. And for the first time I got to being a part of the event.
The event saw nearly 30,000 delegates from 170 different countries, representing expertise from industry, technology, finance and government taking part in the event. The event was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander.
The World population is expected to rise to a staggering 9 billion by 2050. This increases the energy, food and resource requirements by more than 50% which needs to be met all the while keeping in our mind the environmental degradation problems. Even important is the fact that nearly 1.3 billion people have no access to any form of energy resources at all.
To counter these, countries are coming together and pledging to improve energy services keeping in mind the environment. And for this is the World Energy summit in pursuit of securing a reliable source of sustainable energy to the World.
My visit to WFES was an enriching experience on sustainable future energy solutions. The beautifully designed stalls made from recycled materials, especially those of Bee?ah, Tadweer, Dulsco and Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry made me stand awestruck. I visited many stalls interacted with the delegates. The brochures also included comprehensive information on the proposed projects of the exhibitors.
I would encourage all Eco Generation members to take part in similar exhibitions or summits whenever they are within your reach. |
