![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() When everyone was fast asleep on 2nd January, 2015, a Friday morning, some environmental enthusiasts including myself were busy playing our role for protecting the environment. Enthusiastic students and parents braced the chilly winter winds to take part in the Clean Up Sharjah Campaign. Volunteers cleaned 5 different areas of Sharjah namely Al Wahda, Al Majaz 2, Abu Shagara and Al Qassimiya and from there they walked towards a common meeting point which was the Al Majaz Waterfront cleaning all the way. Volunteers were divided into two groups at each area one group with Green bags collecting General Waste and the other with Blue bags collecting recyclable waste. Once at Al Majaz Waterfront we gathered all waste we collected together. Barakat Fresh Juices were there at the event providing us with fresh juices to refresh us after our hard work. Soon the Bee?ah Vehicle came to collect the wastes for recycling and proper disposal. The event was extremely successful only due to the efforts of all the eco volunteers. After cleaning up we had sense of satisfaction on having worked towards conserving the environment. Such clean up campaigns encourage communities to clean up and conserve their environment. If we all decide to do these clean ups on our regular basis then our world be a more clean and beautiful place. |
