UAE Green Development Strategy 2015

by | 16-01-2015 16:08

Yesterday, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President of UAE and Ruler of Dubai launched  ?UAE Green Development Strategy'15? to build a green economy in UAE .
Sustainable development connot have a real purpose without a green economy. The UAE will create 160,000 jobs by 2030 and save billions of dirhams annually by implementing this 'green growth' strategy.
UAE Green Development Strategy aims to build an economy that preserves the environment, and an environment that supports economic growth. UAE seeks an economy that will provide opportunities for the citizens, preserve resources, and enhance global competitiveness.
     The strategy includes six tracks:

- The first track aims to promote renewable energy, clean fuels, and energy efficiency usage.
- The second track is designed to encourage investments in green economy and green technologies and to create job opportunities for citizens.
- The third track is about the green city and it includes urban planning, sustainable transportation, and clean air initiatives.
- The fourth track aims to deal with climate change through reducing carbon emissions, encouraging organic agriculture, and preserving biodiversity.
- The fifth track aims to rationalize the use of our water and energy resources, encourage recycling, and raise environmental awareness.
- The sixth track includes the green technology and will focus on carbon capturing and storage technologies plus generating energy from waste.

The UAE has turned a new leaf this time. They are now focussing on urging corporates and compaies to make investments in green development, green technologies and renewable forms of energy. In my belief, in today's world, investments in environmental sector can have tremendous returns in the near future. In the future, green energy might be the only form of energy left.
