![]() ![]() ![]() Just as the Dubai Cares initiative, 'Rebuild Palestine. Start With Education' turned out to be an astounding success, the UAE Compassion (Tarahamu) campaign also proved to be hugely successful in this current 'Charity Season'. Not only did individuals support the UAE Red Crescent organization in the same, but there were also many companies that affiliated themselves to support this cause. One such example is Bee'ah, Sharjah's Environmental Waste Management Co., having the goal of 'Zero Waste To Landfill by 2015', the entire staff of which joined hands and organized a bake sale on 13th January 2015( 12 pm to 4pm) with items that they baked themselves and brought to sell to the general public. All proceeds thus collected went towards the UAE Compassion Campaign. Not only was the goal achieved through monetary funds, but the company also encouraged its members, staff and anyone who happened to know about the same to bring blankets and old clothes for the Syrian Refugees. They did manage to get a pretty good haul as a result of their dedication and the 150+ kind hearted people who donated for the same. I was also one of the donors, donating two blankets and a humble amount towards the cause. "I brought some Chocolate Fudge and a Cake. It took me more than five hours to bake it.", said Mrs. Ahlam Abdul Samad, from the Bee'ah School of Environment, on being asked what she had contributed to the bake sale. Mrs. Hind Al Huwaidi, also from the BSOE stated that, "This initiative was only possible because of the support shown by all. Each and every staff member of Bee'ah had something to contribute and that is what made it so special." I wish to mention my Eco-Hero Dear Anjum Ma'am who also attended this event & contributed generously. She has donated huge bag of comforter, woolen clothes and bed sheets for the needy people. I?m attaching a few pictures of her as well. It feels so nice & proud to work together for a noble cause with my Eco-Hero. Some of my school mates including Prena Pai Tunza Member were also present. That makes us a Strong Green Team. Drops make an ocean, and the contribution that was made by a company that works towards the environment towards such a philanthropic cause was truly a big commendable step in the drive for Compassion towards the needy. If we the people of UAE are able to give back to the society through such initiatives, I'm sure that not a single Syrian will sleep cold and hungry, ever again. Hence, I encourage all readers to embrace drives by organizations such as Bee'ah to help support the cause. |
