![]() The Dubai Water & Electricity Authority [DEWA], once again proved its continuous commitment towards sustainability. Imagine cutting Carbon Dioxide Emissions by over 8,500 Tonnes a year, every year. This plan is for Seven buildings in Dubai. They have identified total 30,000 buildings where energy sustainability & savings can be introduced. This will be introduced gradually & the target is to complete the same by the year 2030. Remember, UAE has banned the use of incandescent light bulbs already & they are using CFL, but due to its mercury content & better efficiency of LED, now they are replacing the old lights with LED. DEWA has planned to replace indoor & outdoor lights by LED lights. Air-conditioning equipment will be upgraded, Film will be applied on windows to retain cool air. Total 55 steps will be introduced to conserve the energy. Current plan will be introduced in DEWA Head Quarters, Power station & 6 other office buildings. It requires US $10 Million to carry out such activities but the cost is not the deterrent to UAE government. Their commitment is solid & the target conserve & preserve the environment in all the feasible ways. Solar energy, Nuclear energy & other energy saving initiatives are on cards & will be implemented shortly. The best part is that such costs are in fact investments that will pay back in 6-7 years in terms of energy savings.
We are proud to be a part of society of such a committed & caring government that leaves no stone unturned to give back to the nature that we have taken it away. Such repayments are essential for our survival & vital for our future. Thanks for reading.
