My Most Memorable Eco-Activity of the Year 2014

by | 01-01-2015 16:48

Greetings to all the members of Tunza-Eco-Generation. Wishing you all a very happy new year.

I would like to share with all of you, my most memorable Eco-friendly activity of the year gone by. This activity took place in the month of December which will be cherished in my memory for life. This special activity is the One Root One Communi-Tree campaign organized by the Emirates Environment Group.

In this prestigious campaign, I got a chance to plant two trees under my name after collecting more than 1000 kilograms of newspaper and depositing it to EEG in a span of a month in the Neighbourhood Recycling Campaign. Apart from collecting newspapers, I have also collected many other recyclables like toners, plastic bottles, mobiles, glass bottles etc.

The slogan for this campaign was ?Together we Plant for our Emirates?. Trees are the lungs of Mother Nature. Human wants and needs have increased to such a great extent that the forest cover of the world has reduced drastically. This slash and burn deforestation practice followed is causing depletion of the natural resources as well as the loss of fertility of soil. So it is necessary for the present generation to plant more and more trees for replenishing the lost resources.

This Tree Plantation Ceremony took place in the Emirate of Ajman on the 12th of December, 2014. There were two types of plants the Damas and the Neem. I myself planted two Damas Trees under my name and one Neem Tree under the name of my school, The Millennium School, Dubai.

Along with me, other fellow Tunza Eco-Generation ambassadors, friends and teachers were also present. Along with Rohan Kapur and Arushi Madan, I promoted the Eco-Generation Platfrom. We all together were planting for a good cause. The chairperson of EEG Mrs. Habiba Al Marashi informed all of us the importance of planting trees and the benefits associated with it. We all put our name placards in the respective trees to be planted and pledged to plant trees in the future also.

We should keep in mind that Tree Plantation should not only be carried out during these events, but should be practiced throughout the year. We all can pledge to plant a tree on our Birthday. If all the 7.2 billion people plant a tree, then we will go a long mile in reducing the global environmental problems being face by us today. So this is my message to all of my dear readers PLANT, PLANT, PLANT!!!!!!
