Electricity from speed breakerby | 31-12-2014 17:46 |

For the current situation of light as a emerging topic, I came up with an idea of a special type of speed breaker. A special type of speed breaker that will be capable of producing electricity that could be used to light up the street lights. In very populous cities, a huge amount of vehicle crosses the streets and so through the speed breakers. In developing countries like India, speed breakers are extremely frequent. If these breakers could be made to produce electricity when a vehicle passes through it, the amount of electricity produced everyday would be just enough to light up 6 to 7 street lights, the whole night. These breakers would consist of dynamos fitted inside it. When rolled, these breakers would produce electricity which could be saved into capacitors or be used to charge up batteries. On average an breaker can light up 6 street lights. And if 400 such breaker is installed, the whole city's street light can be used on these. The basic installation charge would be INR 1000 per breaker, if brought in bulk. The average electricity bill for street lights cost around for the INR 2,00,000 per month for the entire city. If these are saved and spend in a wise manner, it could lead to a majestic result. The government school around the city operates at an approx rate of INR 25,000 per month. So if the entire plan succeeds, a total of 8 government school, which is more than what one can found, can be run more intelligently, hygienic to build a better country. The INR 2,00,000 government saved, thus can now be used to buy dustbins for the city and planting trees everywhere. Now with the other aspect. These breakers would contain special type of high end scanner, sensor and camera. These will be powered by the electricity collected by the breakers itself. The scanner would be used to scan the car body to locate the car's exhaust. The camera and sensor will work together to scan the exhaust along with the emitted gas. At the same moment, while the scanning happens, the camera will also capture the number of the car and will differentiate the text to feed it into the database for record with a special type of recognition software ( on which I have been working for 3 months ). The device will be connected to the government computers and local police. Whenever the device will find a vehicle dangerous to environment, it will buzz an alarm to the control room and will show the car's number. This process could be beneficial economically as well as technologically. If executed, the camera placed by the government which ran on electricity could now be replaced with these. The average cops needed on the street could be reduced. According to my report if these ideas were implemented, the government could save as much as INR 1,20,000 per month. Around 25% of these money could be used to maintain the breakers. The rest 75% could now be used to buy solar lights to plant everywhere. On average, if the government starts buying and placing solar lights at every 200 ft. it will take them just 1.4 years to cover the whole city with solar lights. If seen from the overall aspect, this idea will save up to 3,00,000 per month, will make the entire city, to get transformed to solar lights within 2 years, will increase the government involvement, will increase much public attention, thus involvement.
