![]() As we?ve reached in the last few days of happening and amazing 2014, let me take the opportunity to highlight a recent initiative which have been formulated and will be soon taken up by the Government of India to tackle issues of environmental interests, which I feel are concrete steps to ensure growth, stability, development and sustainability of forests. It is a saddening fact that our forests our being encroached, wildlife has been in a vulnerable state, flora and fauna are in a state of extinction due to ever happening pollution and degradation, and animals of economic interests are being mercilessly killed by poachers. To deal with this crisis and ensure proper surveillance of wildlife, the forest authorities has developed and formulated a prototype in the form of a ?drone? which is made up of latest technology and would have the surveillance power to look up over the vast forest ranges. The main aim is to monitor encroachments of forest area, threat to forest boundaries of protected forest areas, take and survey real-time data. It will work out in auto pilot mode and can be sent to far reaching areas up to 60-70 km deep into the forests, which can take photographs and record videos on real time basis and transmit live visuals through GPS monitored system. After sufficient research and pilot experiments, the forest authorities concluded that the upcoming ?drone? is highly efficient to give correct information. I pray that this initiative goes in a practical way very soon and sustain it in as much forest as possible and help prevent illegal activities.
