I am a committed environmentalist. I love to Recycle, Reuse, Reduce & many a times there is 4^th R in this process, i.e. Redeem. Folks, we all love to be praised & rewarded. Especially after working hard.

You all will agree to me that after studying hard for a full year the marks sheet excites you as it carries excellent marks & high grades. Likewise, If we get rewarded for our actions the motivation level shoots up for a better performance next time.

The same happened this Friday The 12^th Dec. 2014. Emirates Environmental Group, Dubai [EEG] has awarded me 3 trees to be planted under my name. This was a token of appreciation from EEG towards my efforts for recycling in the year 2013.

I recycled 83 Pieces of Mobiles & 120 KG of Beverage Cartons, with EEG. Besides that I am recycling Newspapers, Plastic Bottles and Aluminium Cans also on a regular basis with another very active environmental agency Beeah based in Sharjah.

Coming back to the Tree planting ceremony. It was attended by many Tunza Ambassadors, My School Mates, Friends, and people from big organisations. EEG has organized this event in an organized manner.

The ceremony was planned in Al Manama Police Station, Ajman as more than 400 trees were to be planted. Ajman Municipality has kindly consented to co-ordinate the care of plants after planting. The tree planting does not end at planting the plant & abandoning it later on. The authorities informed us that to put or Name Placard besides a sapling placed near a pit. The pit was made to plant the sapling at a later date. They have not made the arrangements to irrigate & maintain the plants. The necessary infrastructure was to be put in place. They instructed us not to shift the plants as this may disturb their schedule of watering them. There were Damas & Neem saplings available.

I selected Damas as it is the local shrub of the UAE & take very little water to grow. I symbolically put them in pits & later on kept outside so the they can be planted carefully in a proper manner by the municipality.I have planned to go there after 2-3 months to look at the progress of my saplings.

As I informed in my earlier report, this is my 5^th annual Tree planting awarded by the EEG. The process started in 2010 & I am fortunate to cover 5 Emirates out of 7 in the UAE. The Trees with name are growing in Dubai, Sharjah, Ras-Al Khaimah, Abu-Dhabi & now in Ajman. All this was prudently planned by the EEG in consultation with local authorities so that the plants can be well taken care of after the saplings are planted.

It is my ardent duty to spread awareness about the networking platform of Tunza Eco-Generation, therefore I Joined my friend and fellow Eco Gen Ambassador Arushi Madan & helped her to keenly explain to the august gathering the benefits of caring for environment.

I explained the excellent methodology of Tunza platform where the world is united with passionate ambassadors on a single portal. And the motive of all these persons is unique i.e. Environment & sustainability. This is aptly decorated with monthly events & competitions. During such discussion, Mr. Faroukh Sunny, General Manager of Savoy hotel posed several questions to me such as, How do you spread awareness in your community, neighborhood & school? How do you collect recyclables? Etc. etc. I managed to satisfy him in all respects. He in turn promised us to support our initiatives & gave his contact details to pursue further.

It was a memorable & exciting experience to plant trees at Al Manama Police Station, Ajman. As such I am a child but still I consider these plants & saplings as my children which will grow up & give me satisfaction & joy when they flourish. I took an oath by the saplings to carry on my environmental activities in full zest & dedication in the future as well.
