The Philippines faces significant environmental challenges, including climate change effects, rapid urbanization, and increasing energy demands. In response to these challenges, green buildings have been implemented as a sustainable solution to environmental degradation and promote energy efficiency in the built environment. Green Buildings in the Philippines: Over the past ten years, green building have become more popular in the Philippines mainly because of government initiatives, private sector involvements and increasing concern for the environment. Promoting green building certification and standards, including the Building for Ecologically Responsive Design Excellence (BERDE) rating system, has been made possible in a significant way by the Philippine Green Building Council (PHILGBC). However, green building practices are still not as common compared to traditional construction.
