After doing such kind of observation in my place, I can conclude that the rate of environmental issues awareness in here is very low. Nobody will concern about environmental damage even though they get the same problem every year. When the drought comes, we inhale toxic air. We will also be suffered because of flood in the rainy season. Here are the reasons of my opinion.

When I am crossing the highway, there is something that catches my attention. The thing is the environmental campaign displayed in advertisement spaces. One month ago was the first time I noticed those and I was glad because I thought that the city government had plan to educate people and wanted to make this place become more eco – friendly. At that time, I really wanted to put this good news to the report. I wanted to tell ambassador friends that my city was making a good progress.

But, I realized what thing in my mind was wrong. When I was starting to hunt the photographs, I noticed there were another words at there, ?Space Available?. Wow, what the heck does it mean? Why do those words stuck there? It needed a few minutes for me to wake up from a joyful dream. I had been deceived by my own conclusion. The government never meant to do serious environmental actions. They just put ?the good messages? for filling the empty advertisement spaces!

This is one of disappointed moments happened during I live in the city. Disappointed moments are the time when the government seems to be serious for doing some environmental action but then it solely turns to an article in newspaper.

I have ever read a headline in a local newspaper around three years ago, cited that the major would make the city become a zero trash city like one city in Japan by inviting the Japanese experts to cooperate together. The big size picture showed some Japanese visited rubbish station. It said that they wanted to make rubbish converter to produce energy from it. But until now, I never hear any news about it again.

We are ever visited by many international cooperation agencies. Most of them offer partnership to solve environmental issues, from drainage, renewable energy until disposal issues.  Conversely, the government shows no interest. They like economic investments such us mall and apartment development. They choose something that can create the city seems modern rather than improvement on the quality of environment.

At the end, I want to express my jealousy to ambassador friends whom the government of the city concern a lot of environmental development. I really wish someday, this city government will be more aware and have a great passion to implement their plans. I cannot blame this situation to other parties. Perhaps, this is homework for my friends and me who care to environment. We should spread the awareness and educate people about it.
