The Role of the Green Leaders of the Next Generation

We are already in February, the month of lovers! So, let's talk about love. Let's show our love for the environment and let's all be respectful of the environment and live in a way that does not harm it.

According to the Oxford Dictionary, a leader is the person who leads or commands a group, organization, or country. It is a person who inspires others and whom others follow. They therefore have an important role to play in encouraging young people to become aware of environmental protection and sustainable development.

According to many sites including teambuilding.com, Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948) is at the top of the Great Leaders of the World ranking. But what made Gandhi a good leader?

Gandhi's leadership style - The Leader of Leaders..

Gandhi is widely recognized as one of the greatest leaders of nonviolent movements the world has ever known. Gandhi's greatest achievement was his lifelong struggle for India's independence. His dream of independence for his country finally became a reality on August 15, 1947.

"Be the change you wish to see in this world" - Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi is an excellent example of a transformational leader because he led by example. His vision of leadership went beyond himself. Instead of a power grab, he remained sensitive to a higher purpose. And that is what Green Leaders of the Next Generation must do in order to inspire young people and have a clear purpose: "Preservation of the environment." For Leaders in Madagascar, preserve humans and lemurs' only home - our planet.

A beautiful Environment Starts with you..

The Green Leaders of the next generation has a huge role to play in keeping our planet Earth alive, especially those in Africa: Seven Billion Dreams; One Planet. Here are some of the many roles and responsibilities to take control of our future, protect our environment and ecosystems:

Recycle More Often
Recycling is the action or process of converting waste into reusable material. It is a simple but effective way to conserve resources and reduce our individual carbon footprint. It helps reduce fossil fuel consumption and generates a circular economy. Similarly, paper recycling reduces the demand for raw materials for paper production, thus preserving trees and forest ecosystems through new technologies. It is so beneficial as it conserves energy, reduces air and water pollution, reduces greenhouse gases, and conserves natural resources.

Start Your Own Initiative or Volunteer With Environmental Organizations
From a small action like starting a clean-up group to setting up a large social organization with significant impact, taking action for environmental conservation can go a long way. There are many youth-led environmental organizations and NGOs around the world that are leading the way today. But you don't have to start one, you can also make an impact on the environment by getting involved with local non-profit organizations and helping community environmental groups such as conducting awareness campaigns or offering practical help such as beach clean-ups or reforestation...which we'll discuss below.

Planting trees
Where would we be without trees? Trees are so important that there are many reasons why we should plant more of them. Through photosynthesis, trees produce the oxygen that humans and many other organisms depend on to live. Second, trees play a very important role in maintaining local water cycles. Trees retain water, prevent flooding or recharge underground aquifers. Trees provide an important habitat for wildlife and are fundamental to many ecosystems on Earth, where would they live? Our association in Madagascar plants trees every year in February and I was able to contribute in the photo below.
