Plastics are one of the major sources of polluting the environment and making the nature more unpleasant. As it is non-degradable, it remains as the pollutant for long period of time and if burned them it produces the harmful gases such as CO, CO2 and many others which are harmful to the health and also it contribute to the ozone layer depletion. So in order to reduce the effects caused by the plastics and to make the environment healthier it has been declared to make our institute Plastic Free Zone.

As per the plan of the Government of Nepal to make all Government institutions Plastic free Zone, the meeting was held on 23 kartik ( 9th Nov. ) at Institute of Agriculture and Animal Sciences(IAAS), Paklihawa campus within the campus chief office between  the stakeholders of the campus in the presence of Chief Secretary of Nepal Government Mr. Leela Mani Paudel. As the outcome of the meeting, it has been confined that the use of the plastic should be banned in the institution and it has been made alert to all the students and other staffs within the campus that they will kindly not bring the plastics bags and other related polythenes with them within the campus premises and would help to make the institution Plastic Free Zone.

This seems to be one of the better steps taken by the institution to make the environment better from its own level. As already mentioned plastic has many deleterious effects, its use should be reduced at minimum level and as per the notice released regarding it all the students and staffs should follow it and should welcome the decisions made and should cooperate in making the region Plastic Free Zone and create the institution as the sample institution regarding the conservation and promotion of the environment.
