 Impact Assessment

With the accelerated rate population increment , most of the places of Chitwan are being untidy day by day . Among them,  road from Chaubiskoti to Pulchowk , centre of Chitwan, has been the most untidy place due to high density of visitors. Though, many initiatives were forwarded they have not found to be successful so far in sustainable cleanliness. Here, lack of awareness and lack of action seems to contribute in a considerable percentage.

objectives:

To involve local people and stakeholders in nationwide clean up event.

To create a self realization of own?s waste management to every individual.

To unite different stakeholders for sustainable solid waste management.

Steps forwarded to accomplish Clean Up Event

Volunteer induction program on September 13,2014 at District Development Office, Chitwan. Here, different working committees were formed among 50 volunteers.

Media campaigning was done in different local and national media to encourage people?s participation.

Press meet on September 18, 2014 at Bharatpur Garden Resort, Chitwan.

Awareness raising campaign on September 19,2014 from Chaubiskoti to Pulchowk inviting local people for clean up event.

Findings:

Huge participation of 500 volunteers. Involvement of local stakeholders and people, different organizations , womens groups and youth groups working in different dimension.

Collection of 8000kg solid waste.

Self realization of visitors and participants for  their own waste management.

Conclusion:

In support and collaboration of different organization and local people, we have well accomplished the huge clean up event in Chitwan. Self waste management, participation of local stakeholders with their own local resources and awareness increament seems to play a considerable role in solid waste management.

Being a core committee member, I would like to thank all the supportive and collaborative organizations, local people, youth and women group. Volunteer?s enthusiastic participation has inspired us a lot in carrying sustainable waste management related program to establish a clean Chitwan, Green Chitwan.
