JUNIOR ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION

by | 12-11-2014 00:27

Environmental Conservation is an important lesson that should be taught at a junior age which means everyone as youth leader should lead by example. After all, if we don?t who will?

This is why on the 8th of November, my partner Keoleboge Tsheko, my fellow conservationists from the Environmental Conservation Society (ECS) and I, decided to take responsibility by going to Boitumelo Primary School (a nearby local school) to educate the young ones about the importance of tree planting to the environment. We did this by preparing several seedling beds for them as a way to embrace their agriculture syllabus in their school curriculum.

This also served as an educational event for me for I met a few youngsters who have creative ideas when recycling. I met a boy who made a mini car with only wires, strips of elastic rubber and rusted cool drink cans. He explained to me that he personally went to the dumping area and decided to collect the ?scraps? to build his car. (Photo attached)

I guess there are a million ways to get conserve our environment, as long we realize the importance of it at a young age.
