The third edition of Planet Nepal, a festival of arts and environment, organised by Alliance Francaise of Kathmandu, kicked off at 31 October in Tudhikhel, Kathmandu. The two-day festival was open to all with free entry, and the festivals had many things to offer as to attract thousands of people to this fair. In the opening day I could see good number of domestic as well international environment and art fanatic. The General Assembly of the United Nations has declared 2014 as the ?International Year of Family Farming? and this exhibition aimed to mark this occasion. I saw a lot of stalls promoting family farming and it was able to attract a lot of visitors as they were creative and attractive. I was pleased to see the artwork made by the waste products and it is one of the main attractions. I hope that the artwork will inspire the visitors to reuse the waste products. Those artwork reflected the importance of the waste products. Many tourists were busy clicking that particular artwork. The fair had also other stall which provided information on clean energy and sustainable environment. The fair screened a lot of National and international documentaries with theme being sustainable environment. Some of the directors were seen at the fair too. Community seed bank was another stall where people showed interest. This fair aims to have more interaction among the public and environment experts. This event aims to give artistic view on the environmental issues so that wider audience can get feel and importance of it in a different manner. |
