Eco-School Korea : A movement to green university campuses
- Green the Gene international initiative

In this article I bring to you the story of one of Green the Gene's projects, which despite very small and humble starts are now working extremely successfully. This is one of those projects and was started a few years ago, in Seoul, Republic of Korea, by volunteers from Green the Gene's team out there, with support from the universities in which they are studying.

This project, started in South Korea, it is now a worldwide movement. It all started out in Seoul with going to the top universities of the country to organize quizes, surveys and workshops about their ideas of conservation, the state of the environment, and their role in sustainability. When we found out that they had some amazing ideas and a lot of potential which is never being used.

Putting their ideas and spirit of volunteering to use, we started Eco-School Korea - a project spearheaded by Kim Young Sun, Korean Country Representative, Green the Gene, it spread like wildfire to a lot of universities in all over Korea, whose students are now working to convert their campuses in eco-friendly ones, sparing no efforts in recycling, reusing, changing to energy efficient sources and better designs.

If you are a university (or school) student and would like to take up this project with your friends and start or replicate this simple yet effective project in your region or locality, in your school or university, please feel free to contact us (greenthegene@gmail.com) and get your starter kit today and all the help you need to start out !

More information about this project could be found on www.greenthegene.co.nr and we at Green the Gene highly encourage everybody to take up such projects and help have a positive impact on the environment.
