by | 03-11-2014 11:56

Environmental activists generally promote 3R. That is Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Now jute is an organic material that has a vast use. it can replace many plastic and polymer product that is harmful to produce and use. And if it?s a jute product, we can apply 3R easily. Jute products can be reused and recycled. And it can reduce your cost as you can use the products many times. Most importantly it is very eco friendly. It reduces cost for environment too .

Bangladesh has a glorious history of Jute Production. Jute plants need alluvial and heavy rainfall alternate with high temperature and windy air to grow well.  Bangladesh is unique geographical location for all the climatical elements for rich growth.  With the great climatic condition every year half a million hectares of land is cultivated to yield 1 million ton of jute fiber of different grades. Before the industrial revolution it has the only the use of making ropes and cordage. Modern textile technology made the break through. Researches are conducted to bring out the best genome and to find out specified uses of jute.

Bangladeshi Scientist Dr Maqsudul Alam with his team decoded the jute genome last year. Experts say this gene sequencing will improve the fiber length and quality which includes colors and strength. This discovery will also help to develop high yielding, saline soil-and pest-tolerant jute varieties through genetic engineering. Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina directly supported this research group.

I am happy that Bangladeshi jute and jute products are recognized as the best quality jute for its color, length, strength, luster and texture. They are known as Golden Fiber all over the world. Now let?s talk about jute products. What we can produce by jute fiber. Jute is generally used to manufacture the following products.

1.      Bags, sacks for packing agricultural products

2.      Cordage and Ropes

3.      Cargo separator in ships

4.      Brattice cloth for mine ventilation and partition

5.      Roofing and floor covering apparel for say carpets

6.      Footwear lining

7.      Fashion accessories

8.      Files and folders

9.       Carrying bags for almost everything

I am sure that if I share some photos of jute products, you all will love it. Let?s have a look. These products can easily be washed to reuse. It reduces the cost for buying short lasting plastic and polymer bags. And of course this is a disposable Eco friendly organic material.
