Bangladeshi Scientist Dr Maqsudul Alam with his team decoded the jute genome last year. Experts say this gene sequencing will improve the fiber length and quality which includes colors and strength. This discovery will also help to develop high yielding, saline soil-and pest-tolerant jute varieties through genetic engineering. Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina directly supported this research group.

I am happy that Bangladeshi jute and jute products are recognized as the best quality jute for its color, length, strength, luster and texture. They are known as Golden Fiber all over the world.
