Sustainable way to get clean water -Creating Water from Thin Air

There's water around us all the time, we just can't see it. The air in our atmosphere contains a varying amount of water vapor, depending on the weather. When it's hot and humid, evaporated water can make up as much as 6 percent of the air we breathe. On cold, dry days it can be as low as .07 percent of the air's makeup 


This air is part of the water cycle, an Earth process. Crudely put, water evaporates out of rivers, lakes and the ocean. It's carried up into the atmosphere, where it can collect into clouds (which are actually just accumulations of water vapor). After the clouds reach the saturation point, water droplets will form, which we know as rain. This rain runs off the land and collects into bodies of water, where the whole process begins again.


The problem is, the water cycle goes through dry periods. Because of this, some inventors have begun to wonder, why wait? Why not pull the water vapor right out of the air? I recently came across atmospheric water generator or eole wind turbine during my visit to Abu Dhabi Future Energy Exhibition/Summit.


UAE?s Emirates Marine Environmental Group (EMEG) has felt the need to implement such sustainable technologies  to be implemented to produce very clean energy and water and can reduce UAE?s reliance on desalination plant. To accomplish this , it is decided to install  in Ghantoot nature reserve , Abu Dhabi(UAE)within the next few weeks- such a  revolutionary wind turbine that can produce fresh water and electricity even in the remotest and driest areas on the planet . The wind turbine converts humidity in the air into a liquid state. It is also able to progenerate electricity to power air-conditioners and lighting.


After a partnership agreement with Emirates Marine Environmental Group (EMEG), which manages the reserve, the new French-built wind turbine is ready to be installed and tested for a whole year.


The trial will include examining how much litres of water will the turbine produce from humid. This will be a very good future project and a big step forward. The whole aim behind the project according to Al Suwaidi was to make the Ghantoot reserve a completely no-carbon area where people will only be allowed to enter the area by horse or by foot.


This innovative technology has been designed around three major principles:

 To offer a sustainable access to safe drinking water ,

To operate in completely autonomy

and to preserve the environment
