![]() ![]() The government of Nepal has done another improvement on order to improve the ring road here in busy capital city Kathmandu. After the successful completion of pilot project of solar lamp installation in some selected part of the ring road, the central government in collaboration with local body has installed solar lamps in majority of the road of the inner ring road. By the end of October, KMC (Kathmandu Municipality) plans to install solar street lights in New Baneshwor, New Road, and the street surrounding Tundikhel. The project cost has an been around Rs 40 million. Most of the work has been has already been completed. the light will come in operation within a week from now. T his project will be able to utilize the freely available energy, i.e. solar energy and it will be advantageous to the people using roads during night hours, which will be working in spite of frequent power cuts on our country. Not only in capital city, Pokhara city has also got solar light installed in the roads. In this case local government, NGOs and the local people have combinely invested for the project. Apart from that the government has completed the road expansion project in the ring road area. In the past days there used to be a lot of hustle bustle during rush hour, but the expansion of road into now eight lane road has made the life easier of city people. Now the ring road is wide and the government plans to plant trees between the lanes in order to beautify the roads. This step will surely reduce the pollution in the city and increase the greenery too. |
