I talked to them about three things: 1. About the future of our generations to come 2. The need to cut down food wastage 3. About the extinction of animals worldwide because they have nowhere to go.
This campaign of mine using Tunza Eco-Generation's promotional goods was called, 'Let your words reflect in your actions'. After we saw everything in the farm and factory, I asked all the members to group up and listen to me for a while. Through this innovative lecture, I highlighted the importance of not only saying or spreading awareness about things, but even taking some action. In the modern era, I feel that the saying, 'Easy for you to say' has become very common and this 'say' should translate into deeds, into actions. I told the members things like, 'You are not what you say, but what you do'. They certainly agreed with me on this and vowed to actually practice what they preach. They felt very enlightened and know that it was not only enough to attend lectures or to give speeches and correct somebody, but it is also important to implement the things ourselves. I also highlighted the immense wastage of food and water all over the world. Here is an Extract from my speech relating to it:
And I concluded by telling them that the next time they throw a wrapper on the road, they should not just give it a second thought, but even a tenth thought, remember my speech and then they shall realize whether they still have the guts to throw it. When I noticed that only 3 or 4 members out of the 40 Serve The Heroes members were active on Eco-Generation, I enlightened them all about this great environmental networking platform for children and youth, Tunza Eco-Generation and its benefits and how young minds from all over the world buzz together to find environmental solutions and share the current environmental status of their country, or simply enhance our knowledge regarding the vast topic of the environment. Co-Ambassadors to the Middle East Raunak Kapur and Arushi Madan were also present during this lecture and could relate with what I told to the other members of Serve The Heroes. We also presented Tunza Eco-Generation's promotional goods to all members and everyone was really excited about this 'environmental Facebook' and we gave them leaflets, pens, business cards, post-its, scales, etc. and also presented our guide, Mr. Sherief, with the Tunza Eco-Generation Eco-Friendly bag for helping us organize a lecture and an awareness event at such a scale. I made them all promise me and take a pledge, NOT to waste food, to help PROTECT, PRESERVE and CONSERVE the Environment and to REFLECT their actions in their words In a nutshell, everyone benefitted from my lecture and leant a very important lesson today which was: 'We are responsible not only for our words, but even for our actions'. |
