![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() First of all I would like to take this opportunity to thank Tunza Eco-Generation from the bottom of my heart for everything that I have gained since the time I had become a member of this forum. I also feel a sense of pride as, after having become an ambassador, I am able to convey my message on the protection of the environment to the community more effectively and efficiently. I feel fortunate enough to be backed by an efficient Tunza team, who is very helpful and keeps motivating the members at all times. All the members are also doing a great job by sharing their creative innovations and experiences by writing articles and comments on different issues. This week I conducted an Environmental Awareness workshop titled ?Go Green for a Brighter Future?. I invited all my friends to join me for this noble cause to raise awareness on the topics of recycling, preservation of our natural resources, segregation of waste, importance of cleanliness and other environmental issues. I found it extremely important to first introduce all my friends to the global environmental networking platform Tunza Eco-Generation for youth and children that gives an array of opportunities. I explained to them as to how this forum encourages all its members to adopt sustainability in their day to day lives, in their thinking, and in all aspects of their behaviour. I started by first telling them how to change their daily lifestyle by adopting environmental friendly practices. Segregate the waste of your daily household. Keep the biodegradable waste, paper waste and plastic waste in separate containers. Collect recyclable items like plastic bottles and aluminium cans and give them to waste management companies like EEG and Bee?ah or bring it to school where the Environment Club also collects the waste. Reuse plastic bags given in grocery shops and supermarket or use paper and jute bags instead of plastic bags. I also asked them a simple quiz on how each one of us can reduce our carbon footprint and lead a green lifestyle by making small, simple changes that can lead to a big long-term impact. This included running washing machines and dishwashers on full load, using more energy-efficient appliances, using CFL or LED bulbs, taking showers instead of using bath tubs to avoid wastage of water, closing taps while brushing teeth, using natural light of the sun during day time instead of artificial light. Next I introduced them to the Tunza Eco-Generation platform and explained the few simple ways to become a member of this platform, share reports on this forum and read articles from various members around the globe to enhance knowledge. I explained about the various activities that keep the members to continuously inspire for the betterment of Mother Nature like the monthly events, Essay Competitions, Ambassador Programs and many more. I also shared the wonderful experience of representing the UAE on this global platform by becoming the ambassador. During this interactive session many suggestions were given by all present there. This made me feel that the whole community is aware of the responsibilities they have to play towards the environment in which they work and live. Initiatives like this surely aim to raise awareness and introduce the importance of sustainable development in the community. These small practices are known to many but followed by few. This is mainly because they don?t practice what they preach. I asked them to join hands to work together so that the future generations can enjoy the natural world as it was during the time of our ancestors. In the end I distributed the leaflets, pens and other promotional goods sent by Tunza Eco-Generation that was an icing on the cake. This was an event that I will cherish throughout my life as this gave me immense satisfaction and pleasure after having conveyed the message that can never be forgotten?? GO GREEN, THERE IS NO PLANET B!!! |
