I want to share how i celebrated 2 October, the birthday of Great Mahatma Gandhi. ![]() Community for Human Development, Bangladesh is a small part of the Humanist Movement founded by Mario Rodriguez Cobos who is better known as Silo. Humanist Movement is an international volunteer organization which promotes nonviolence and non-discrimination worldwide. The Bangladesh chapter of the movement organized a seminar and rally in the capital Dhaka. In the first section of the seminar the volunteers shared their experience working with this movement. They shared how this concept of nonviolence changed their life. Being completely nonviolent is a very tough. What can we do? We can practice the concept in every level of our daily life. If the world leaders want to be violent, there would be no choice. Because the amount of atomic bomb developed till today can ruin this world 350 times. So there is no better than practice active nonviolence. ![]() The second section of the seminar was graced by the guest speakers. They delivered their speech on the history of this great nonviolence movement. The practice of being nonviolent has to come from your inner-self. You need to control yourself while behaving with others. Always try to behave with others as you expect others to behave with you. Violence occurs when some people want to impose things on others. Keynote speakers shared about active nonviolence. There are six major principals of non violence. That are 1. Nonviolence is a way of life for courageous people 2. Nonviolence seeks to win friendship and understanding 3. Nonviolence believes that the universe is on the side of justice 4. Nonviolence seeks to defeat injustice not people 5. Nonviolence chooses love instead of hate 6. Nonviolence holds that suffering can educate and transform Love is the strongest weapon to stop a conflict. Sometimes we don't find the alternative of using weapon. But the affection and respect to others can definitely replace weapon from the world. After the seminar the participants joined the rally which marched within the capital. The rally ended at the national press club. |
