DEFORESTATION AT HIGH RATE IN UGANDA

by | 30-08-2014 21:28

Despite the fact that the Ugandan president , H.E  Yoweri Kaguta Museveni launched a tree-planting exercise earlier this year, the required grassroot awareness has not really created an impact in the country.

On an estimate, the ratio of tree cutting to planting would be 5:1 which is the primary reason why a Ugandan Newspaper reported that by 2050, none of Uganda's forests would survive due to lumbering activities.

Environmental activists are few in the country given the fact that it is passion, and not money-based task.

More awareness needs to be taken to the grassroots, to the people on the streets and yes, my best has not been enough but I have contributed and would keep doing so.
