A citizen could be described as an individual who is born into a country or acquires it through naturalization, which connotes the fact that it is your paternal right to contribute meaningfully towards the development of that nation or country. As far as this true, the context of this essay will enlighten as well as portray the impact and role that I have played as a universal citizen of our beautiful mother earth which is currently faced with environmental destruction, resource depletion, wars, conflicts, poverty among others. Primarily, the major role that I do is to ensure that humanity is being re-regenerated. A re-generated individual within this scope is a personality that ensures that any activity or event that they undertake must be reflected on everyone around. In attaining this, I always ensure that all my activities that I perform must be reflected on the average individual around me. A few years ago, I came across the plight of many pupils who were struggling with their academic work due to insufficient tutors. As a student in the university then who has been through similar obstacles, it was quite obligatory on my shoulders that these pupils must not undergo the same difficulty and therefore resulted in me starting a movement called Forum for the Development of Young people which was aimed at using educational activities to develop their minds. Activities such as Debate sessions, spelling championships, Essay competitions and voluntary teaching in various subject matters became quite imperative as our core. Since inception till date, we have been able to impact the lives of many pupils some of which are in the university pursuing further studies. Moreover, I am a very earth friendly person who is always on the look-out for a better eco-system. At the moment, I am the 11th and 12th Tunza Eco-Generation Ambassador to Sierra Leone which has among other duties, the power to advocate and sensitize youths and children through a social media blog about some of the harmful activities on our planet. Since becoming an ambassador last year, I have published more than fifteen (15) articles on environmental issues ranging from climate change to distorting aquatic conditions. Positively, these articles have received a huge global audience with fantastic comments and appraisals on regular bases. Furthermore, Sierra Leone is a country that has been plagued with an Eleven (11) years war which claimed the lives of many people. Even though it was officially declared over in 2002, there is an issue of youth and gender based violence which is gradually becoming prevalent in our society. as an individual that will not condole such a social vice, I have been active in various campaigns on the social media and electronics media preaching the message that society does not and will never accept such social vice and this venture is gradually proving to be a worthwhile exercise. As glorious as they all seem, there is still more room for improvements. If we want to acquire the desire that we admire, we must not retire if in the process we perspire we must re-fire to acquire the desire that we admire and I am always ready to support and uphold positive values and beliefs that the earth is our only home if it is destroyed there is a high risk of us becoming extinct. I will always put in my greatest effort to make planet earth, the paradise that it is supposed to be. |
